| Jordin Sparks - Final 8 Show - Latin Night with Jennifer Lopez |
| Answering a viewer question, 80's child Jordin tells Ryan Seacrest she loves 80's music and 'The '80s' would be her perfect Idol theme. Not surprisingly, she's chosen an 80's number for tonight's Latin theme. 'The Rhythm Is Gonna Get You' was originally released by Gloria Estefan in 1987, 2 years before Miss Sparks was born. Jordin reveals she only just made it into the '80s, her birthdate is 22nd December 1989! |
During rehearsals Jennifer Lopez is impressed with Jordin's "sweet voice", so most of her mentoring seems to focus on answering Jordin's questions on how to move on stage.
Jennifer's advice is very apt considering what Jordin is singing, she wants her to "Let the rhythm in her body just move her a little bit". | |
| Jordin does a pretty good job on stage, she's definitely got the rhythm and the rhythm's got her. Having said that, we're a bit disappointed, because to us, this seems like quite a contained peformance. Jordin hits the notes, makes the moves, but she doesn't knock it out of the park. |
| We don't want to be too negative about this, so we'll try being double negative instead. It's not that we don't like Jordin tonight, in fact, never have we not liked a Jordin performance. It's just that usually we don't not love it, and this week we do. Confused? Well let's see what the panel think... |
 | - "That was absolutely wonderful and absolutely great... the yo factor on blast!" is the Randy Jackson take on things.
- Paula Abdul loves that Jordin is "so authentic", carefree and "just out there having a great time". She tells the 17-year-old, "you're adorable, just adorable".
- Simon Cowell is less effusive, He complains that "there's nothing stunning... We all know Jordin you're a good singer. I haven't seen a progression, though, tonight and that's very frustrating for me."
