| LaKisha Jones - Final 8 Show - Latin Night with Jennifer Lopez |
| Jennifer Lopez is tickled by the baby way LaKisha says 'Conga'. She teaches her the correct pronunciation, but that sounds just as silly to our ears! Jenny also gives LaKisha a few tips on how to move, or as she puts it, "ride the rhythm"! |
On stage LaKisha does a pretty good job of riding the 'Conga' rhythm and she looks very comfortable strutting along the walkway beside the judges table and up onto the stage. (Okay, she did nearly trip over herself at one point, but luckily the cameras didn't catch too much of that!)
However, perhaps because of all the moving around, her vocal isn't quite up to its usual high standard tonight. A few notes sound flat and her emotion and intensity dips during parts of the song.
| It's a fun song and we do like that LaKisha at least showed some joy on stage, but rating her against her own high vocal standards, she was definitely below par tonight. |
| - Randy Jackson also likes that LaKisha was "having a good time". Although he sounded positive about Melinda Doolittle earlier, he seems to be agreeing with Simon now, "It's exactly what Simon said a minute ago that wasn't happening with Melinda. You were having fun... You put the little runs in... That was hot, baby!"
- Paula Abdul tells LaKisha she looks lovely tonight! Uh-oh! She goes on to say she wasn't "feeling it like Randy" and calls the performance "a real safe LaKisha". She reminds LaKisha that "it's gettin' down to the wire" but softens her critique with "You're great we all love ya. I just want you to push for it more."
- Simon Cowell agrees with Paula. He tells LaKisha "You were having fun. I'm not sure how much fun everyone at home would be, though. That's the problem."
|
LaKisha takes the criticism with good heart, although she can't contain her surprise when Simon remarks that "the dancing wasn't very good".
She lets out a high pitched shriek! Then she flashes Simon an incredulous smile, like she knows she had some hot moves on that stage tonight. And she did!
