| Meeting Gwen Stefani for rehearsals this week was a big deal for rocker girl Gina Glocksen. Gina, a huge fan of Gwen's, made sure to tell her blonde Idol what "a big inspiration" she is to her. |
| The icing on the cake is that Gina really impressed Gwen with her rehearsal rendition of "I'll Stand By You". Gwen's verdict was that "Gina did a really great job of just keeping her voice in control. It was good to see her just stand there and kind of be very emotional." |
| Gwen wasn't just being nice to her fan. On stage tonight, singing The Pretenders number Gina certainly isn't pretending. Despite her obvious similarities to the band's lead singer Chrissie Hind, in both rock-chick image and vocal character, this is no copycat rendition. It's just Gina, standing up to the mike and giving a very honest and beautifully emotional portrayal of the lyric. |
| So, Gwen loved it, the audience love it, we love it and to Gina's delight so do the judges! |
- Randy Jackson goes as crazy about Gina's boots as he did over LaKisha's and thinks the performance was bootyful too! "I thought this was one of your best performances ever... just believe man, and choose wise songs..."
- Paula Abdul agrees about the song, "It showed vulnerability and it also allowed you to soar with your vocals". She agrees about the performance too, "It really was the best performance so far."
- Simon Cowell wrongfoots everyone with " Gina... it wasn't one of your best performances..." before slam-dunking Gina off to Pretender paradise with "it was your best performance!" From the reaction on Gina's face it's very clear just how much Simon's words mean to her.
