Ryan Seacrest: (Intro part 1) Elliott is kickin' us off tonight with a little George Benson cover, but what year is it? Watch...
Elliott: I was born way back in 1978... (Gap in sound) ...to Richmond, Virginia. Ever since I was a kid I developed this bad habit of chewing my fingernails. That habit has only grown 10 times worse since I've been on the show, especially on Wednesday nights. Definitely wouldn't make a good hand model, that's for sure. (Laughs)
Elliott sings...
¯ They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway ¯ They say there's always magic in the air ¯ But when you're walkin' down that street ¯ And you ain't had enough to eat ¯ The glitter rubs right off and you're nowhere ¯ Dooo-ba-doo-dah-twee-doh-twee-doh-dah ¯ They say that I won't last too long on Broadway ¯ I'll catch a Greyhound bus for home ¯ That's what they all say ¯ But they're dead wrong, I know they are ¯ 'Cause I can play this here guitar ¯ And I won't quit till I'm a star on Broadway ¯ And I won't quit till I'm a star ¯ On Broadway ¯
(Cheers and applause)
Randy Jackson: Yo-yo! Elliott!... Started a little rough for me man, but by the middle of the song you got it together man. It showed that beautiful tenor that you've got man. Very nice dude, very nice.
Elliott: Thank you very much.
Paula Abdul: Elliott, you know, I agree with Randy on that... but the ending... you know, you hear your vibrato... you have such a rich voice. Way to go. (Cheers)
Elliott: Thank you very much.
Randy Jackson: Cowell?
Simon Cowell: I don't think that was your best performance. I thought it was a bit... (Audience boos) ...I thought it was a bit disjointed and I think you're very lucky you got two songs tonight.
Ryan Seacrest: (Joins Elliott on stage) Whoa, we start once again, just like we always do. He's pouting, Simon, on the end of the table there. (Shot of Simon swigging cola, Ryan gives out the voting numbers) ...Elliott Yamin the machine. Thank you very much brother.
Elliott: (Shaking hands) Thank you very much.
Ryan Seacrest: He'll be back again in a few.
Elliott: I'll be back. I'll be back.
