Ryan Seacrest: (Intro part 1. Stool to stool chat with Ace) Say hi to Ace friends! (Cheers)
Ace: (Overhead wave) Whatup! (Laughs)
Ryan Seacrest: Ace from the inside how has the intensity changed in this competition for you guys?
Ace: It's gettin' more and more intense every week. (Smiling) It's ridiculous, and er, the support that we're receiving is amazing.
Ryan Seacrest: And this week you got to rock it out a little bit.
Ace: Yes, this week we get to rock it out.
Ryan Seacrest: Kinda out of your comfort zone, right?
Ace: I would definitely say it's a little out of my comfort zone. Um, with a voice like Freddie Mercury you don't so much just hear it but you feel it. So it's my turn. I've been feelin' for about a week, now it's my turn to give it.
Ryan Seacrest: Well let's see how it went then. Check it out. Ace with Queen, watch...
Intro clip... Ace: (To camera) When I met with Queen it was... it was really interesting because you wanna put your own flavor on the song, so it sounds like Ace doing Queen. So I told Brian what I wanted to do...
Ace: (On VT, shown talking to Queen's Roger Taylor and Brian May) ...Like an army beat... it's like (mimes a drum-beat) rat-at-tat-ta....
Roger Taylor: Mmm?
Brian May: I don't think we're gonna play your arrangement.
Ace: Oh, it's okay.
Roger: Okay.
Ace: Give me somethin' through... that's it's just aggressive...
Brian: Okay.
Ace: ...so I can feel it.
Brian: Try and do something... okay.
Ace: See what comes out! (Smiles)
Brian: (Smiles) All right.
Ace: (Rehearsing) ¯ Singin' we will, we will, rock you ¯
Brian: (Alongside Roger; piece to Camera) I was nervous about it, ehm, but I think, you know, we worked out some kinda hybrid. He's a very interactive person. That's what makes greatness I think. You know, you being able to see outside the frame and try stuff.
Ace: (Improvising the beat with Roger and Brian. Hums deeply.) ¯ brra duh brra duh ¯
Brian: No, that I can't do.
Ace: No?
Brian: (Laughs) Not to my own song, I can't do that.
Ace: Okay.
Ryan Seacrest: (Intro part 2. Laughs a little) They worked it out, and here it is. The song is off "News Of The World" from '77. With "We Will Rock You" it's Ace...
Ace sings...
¯ (Drums stomp. Audience clap the beat) ¯ Buddy you’re a boy make a big noise ¯ Playin’ in the street gonna be a big man some day ¯ You got mud on your face ¯ You big disgrace ¯ Kickin’ your can all over the place ¯ Singin' ¯ (We will, we will) Rock you ¯ Sing it! ¯ We will we will rock you ¯ Buddy you’re a young man, hard man ¯ Shoutin’ in the streets ¯ Gonna take on the world some day ¯ You got blood on your face ¯ You big disgrace ¯ Somebody betta... ¯ Back into your place ¯ Singin' ¯ (We will) we will rock you ¯ Yay-ee-ay-ee-yea-aaa ¯ (We will, we will) Rock you ¯ Gonna, gonna ¯ Buddy you’re an old man poor man ¯ Pleadin’ with your eyes gonna find you some peace some day ¯ You got mud on your face ¯ You big disgrace ¯ Somebody better put you back into your place ¯ Singin' ¯ (We will) We will rock you ¯ Yay-ee-ay-ee-yea-aaa ¯ (We will, we will) Rock you ¯ Aaaaaaaaaah-oooooooo ¯ (We will, we will) Oh, I'm gonna rock you! ¯
(Cheers and applause)
Miked voice: (Sounds like Simon?) Jump in Randy.
Randy Jackson: Yo-yo. Ace baby that's a... that's a big song man.
Ace: It's a big song!
Randy Jackson: I... I was worried you know. I was like, "How is Ace gonna do this man? How's he gonna bring this down?"
Ace: (Laughs)
Randy Jackson: (Sucks through his teeth) Dude, for me it was like about a 5 or 6. Dude it was just a'right dude. (Audience groans, Ace laughs) I was like... I, I... sorry baby I didn't get it. I didn't get it. It was just... it was karaoke for me man, I'm sorry dawg.
Ace: A'ight.
Paula Abdul: Weh... you know what? Ace I feel like the band, Brian May... I understand you know, it's their song, their music and they don't want it bastardized...
Ace: Yeah.
Paula Abdul: ...in any sort of way. I like how you paid tribute at the beginning. I like what you tried to do in the middle and change the arrangement around.
Ace: Thank you.
Paula Abdul: ...a little pitchy...
Ace: ( Probably not replying to "a little pitchy"! ) Thank you.
Paula Abdul: ...but I appreciate the fact that you know what time it is right now in the competition and that you took a risk. (Applause)
Ace: Thank you.
Simon Cowell: Ace, um, I think, I think Randy was being generous. I think it was a complete and utter mess. (Ace bites into his lip, audience jeers and boos)
Paula Abdul: Oh!
Simon Cowell: I'm being serious. You know... (More boos)...
Randy Jackson: He's right. I was tryin' to be kind.
Simon Cowell: ...It was... Ace, it didn't work. It was all over the place. You were forgetting your words, it was... it was "We will rock you gently"...
Randy Jackson: (Laughs)
Simon Cowell: ...I mean it just, just didn't work.
Randy Jackson: "Lightly".
Simon Cowell: I really, really, really hated that. Sorry.
Ace: Thank you.
Paula Abdul: Uh!
Ryan Seacrest: (Greeting Ace onstage) Okay, it's one of the tough moments on the show, I know.
Ace: Exactly.
Ryan Seacrest: What d'ya think? What d'ya think about what Simon said though?
Ace: (Grimaces and shakes his head) You know, I ah, I think I rocked. I had fun. (Cheers) Did we have fun? (More cheers. Ace claps the audience)
Ryan Seacrest: Was there...? ... Let me ask you this? Was there a bit of an uncomfortable moment though? I mean watchin' that tape it seemed like it got a little uncomfortable at the end.
Ace: I felt cool. I mean I... I just wanted to come out and feel the crowd over on the right and then come back and bring it home and I felt good, all the way through. (Claps his hands, pointing them outwards to the audience) So...
Ryan Seacrest: All right. If he connected with you at home you vote for Ace... (Gives out the voting numbers) ...Good luck Ace. Thank you very much brother. (Shakes hands with Ace)
Ace: Thanks sir.
Ryan Seacrest: Appreciate it.
