Ryan Seacrest: (Intro Part 1) First we've got Bucky and his rock workshop. (Clicks his fingers) Take the tape...
Intro clip... Bucky: (To camera) Queen is just a great bunch of guys you know. If I was... if I was back in Rockingham I could picture them coming into a bar and ah, (Smiles) we'd have a good time.
Bucky: (Rehearsing with Queen) ¯ I've seen every blue eyed floozy on the way ¯
Roger Taylor: Well I thought eh, Bucky was rocking. It was good actually. It sort of felt like us a bit at the end.
Brian May: Yeah, he's got a good attitude...
Bucky: (Jokes to the other contestants who are in the rehearsal audience) All, I hope you enjoy this. A little somethin' I wrote.
Brian: ...He's already interacting with his audience which is a good sign for a showman, you know.
Bucky: (To the contestants) ...I'll see what I can do about gettin' ya a couple of backstage passes. (Laughter, Elliott gives a thumbs-up)
Roger: He likes to perform, yeah.
Brian: He's a performer.
Ryan Seacrest: (Intro part 2) With "Fat bottomed girls" from the 1978 album "Jazz", here is Bucky Covington... Let's go Bucky (Claps) ...
Bucky sings...
¯ I was just a skinny lad ¯ Never knew no good from bad ¯ But I knew live before I left my nursery ¯ Left alone with big fat Fanny ¯ She was such a naughty nanny ¯ Heap big woman you made a bad boy out of me ¯ C'mon! ¯ Oh you gonna take me home tonight ¯ Oh down beside that red firelight ¯ Oh you got to let it all hang out? ¯ Fat bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round ¯ I was singing with my band ¯ Across the wire across the land ¯ I've seen every blue eyed floozy on the way ¯ But their beauty and their style ¯ Went kind of smooth after a while ¯ Take me to them dirty ladies every time ¯ C'mon! ¯ Oh wanna take me home tonight ¯ Oh down beside that red firelight ¯ Oh you got to let it all hang out ¯ Fat bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round ¯ Fat bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round ¯ Hey! ¯
(Cheers and applause)
Randy Jackson: Bucky! Yo baby. Whatup man! So check it out. Check it out man. Cool way to start the show man. Nice way to start the show dawg. A lot of energy... fact I thought it was like a Bucky concert. Kinda rocking country. Little pitchy problems but I liked it baby, I liked it. It was nice man.
Bucky: (Smiling) Thank you. Thank you. (Cheers)
Paula Abdul: You know, very interesting for me that you kept true to who you are and you made "Fat Bottomed Girls" a country song... and a... and a country rock song. It was great. You did a great job.
Bucky: (Still smiling) Thank you. (Cheers)
Simon Cowell: (Bucky pretends he's got the shakes) It was a... you know Bucky, it was a good choice of song for you I guess. Ahm, I think the song was bigger than you. Overall I would classify that as quite mediocre. (Audience groans, Bucky smiles)
Randy Jackson: Aw, it was better than that.
Simon Cowell: (To Randy) Tell 'em.
Randy Jackson: (To Simon) Much better than that.
Ryan Seacrest: (Joining Bucky on stage) Well, we're off to the same old start once again tonight. (Shakes Bucky's hand) Good to see you Bucky.
Bucky: Same to you man.
Ryan Seacrest: How do you feel about it?
Bucky: Good. Good, you know it was fun. Playin' Freddie Mercury ain't nobody wanna jump up behind, but y'know, "take what you're given."
Ryan Seacrest: You can say that again. (Gives out the voting numbers)
Bucky: (Says that again) You can take what you're given.
Ryan Seacrest: (Tries not to laugh while giving out the numbers, then claps Bucky out.) Let's hear it for Bucky one more time. (Cheers) Good luck man.
Bucky: Thank you, appreciate it.
