Bucky Covnington enjoys positive comments from all 3 American Idol judges on Country Night - Final 9 show.
No doubt Bucky has been looking forward to country week on Idol. The Gary Allan song that he's singing tonight suits both his voice and his laid back personality.

It's a wistful country melody and, to borrow an oft' used phrase from the judges' table, Bucky's delivery is "right on the money". Wheras the country theme has troubled some contestants tonight, it fits him like a glove.

Randy and Paula both like Bucky tonight, and even Simon says he sounded okay. Considering Simon's aversion to country music that's got to be a compliment!

Panel-Bites:

Ryan Seacrest:  Our final performer of the night... definitely in his comfort zone... it is Bucky!

Intro clip...

Kenny: (Joking with Bucky at rehearsals) You should be at home with country music then?

Bucky: Yes I should! (Both laugh) "Should" is the key word there.

Kenny: "Should" is the key word. (Laughs)

Kenny: (To camera) Best I Ever Had the Gary Allan song, is an interesting song.

Bucky: (Singing at rehearsals) ¯ Nothing's quite the same now ¯

Kenny: (To Bucky) A lot of people might not have heard this.

Bucky: Right.

Kenny: So I think it's real important on a song like this that you over-enunciate, without losing your personality.

Kenny: (To Camera) If you miss a part of the story it really makes no sense, but he can do it, he does it well.

Bucky sings...

¯ So you sailed away ¯ Into a grey sky morning ¯ Now I'm here to say ¯ Love can be so boring ¯ And nothing's quite the same now ¯ And I just say your name now ¯ But it's not so bad ¯ You're only the best I ever had ¯ Don't want me back ¯ You're just the best I ever had ¯ And it might take some time ¯ To patch me up inside ¯ And I might find it in time ¯ That you were always right ¯ But it's not so bad ¯ You're only the best I ever had ¯

(Cheers and applause)

Randy Jackson:  Bucky man. Yo dude. All right so check it out dawg, it was all right tonight man. It started off a little out of tune, a little pitchy in the front... (Paula rests her head on Randy's shoulder while he speaks) but then you got it together. It's good to see in your element man. It's a good song choice for you I think. (Cheers and applause)

Paula Abdul:  Again, you and Kellie probably shined most... tonight. This is your element. Wear that hat proud.

Bucky: (Laughs)

Simon Cowell:  You know Bucky, I'm not an expert on this kind of music, but you know, it sounded okay to me, yeah. It was okay.

Bucky: (Smiles and gives a thumbs up to Simon)

Ryan Seacrest:  (Greeting Bucky on stage) Here we go.

Bucky: Okay.

Ryan Seacrest:  Remember Simon, you're here to judge the singing, not the song... with all due respect. (Gives out the voting numbers)
