Country boy Bucky Covington is also a "Real Good Man"!
Cowboy Bucky is happy with tonight's 21st Century songs theme as it allows him to return to his country roots and vocally he does a real good job of "Real Good Man".

Bucky's gravelly vocal tone is made for country songs like these and he looks really comfortable on stage. However there's a downside, which is that "comfortable" can quickly morph into "unexciting", and we feel Bucky's laid back style is probably what landed him in last week's bottom two spot.

If he makes it to next week we'd love to see him make a real try for the Idol crown by taking a few risks and injecting a bit more passion into his performances.

Panel-Bites:

Ryan Seacrest:  (Introduction) Let's see what Bucky's gonna do! Watch this...

Intro clip...

Bucky: This week I'm gonna jump back and do a country song. Ah, "Real Good Man" by Tim McGraw. Ah, last couple of weeks have been a little challenging with the '50s and Stevie Wonder but we had a good time. So, ah, I've really just picked this song mainly because I just flat-out like it.

Bucky sings...

¯ Girl you've never known no one like me ¯ Up there in your high society ¯ They may tell you I'm no good ¯ Girl they need to understand ¯ Just who I am ¯ But I may be a real bad boy ¯ But baby I'm a real good man ¯ I might have a reckless streak ¯ At least a country-mile wide ¯ If you're gonna run with me ¯ It's gonna be a wild ride ¯ When it comes to loving you ¯ I've got velvet hands ¯ I'll show you how a real bad boy ¯ Can be a real good man ¯ I may be a real bad boy ¯ But baby I'm a real good man ¯ Hey! ¯

(Cheers and applause)

Randy Jackson:  A'right, so yo! Dawg, this is definitely the right kind of song for you. It's definitely you're back at home in your country suit. I like that better man.

Bucky: Thank you.

Paula Abdul:  Also it's familiar to you. That's what you... that's what you do up on stage. Be careful of your diction so we can hear everything that you're singing... that's the only, only bit of criticism I have. But other than that... (Makes a gesture of approval)

Bucky: I'll take it. Thank you. (Laughs)

Simon Cowell:  Actually, you know what. For once I agree with Paula. I couldn't understand a single word you just said. (Bucky laughs)

Randy Jackson:  That's not what she said!

Paula Abdul:  That's not what I said.

Simon Cowell:  Well, you're implying that.

Randy Jackson:  Yeah, that's not what she said.

Simon Cowell:  Y'know, I've got to be honest with you Bucky, I thought it was 'okay', I mean if this was a paid concert this is the point I'd leave to be honest with you. (Bucky keeps smiling)

Paula Abdul:  Oh!

Simon Cowell:  I would. I think it's very unimpressive tonight. I really do. I thought that was just what I call 'winging it'. It was okay.

Ryan Seacrest:  (Joining Bucky) Simon's been underwhelmed from the beginning tonight. (Gives out the voting numbers) Good luck Bucky.

Bucky: Thank you.

Ryan Seacrest:  Thank you bud.
