| American Idol 4, Final 3 Show |
| It's semi-finals night and the stakes are high! The 3 remaining Idols, Bo, Carrie and Vonzell will sing for their ticket to next week's American Idol grand finale at Hollywood's Kodak Theater. |
| There's also a whiff of déjà vu in the air. This time last year, veteran music mogul Clive Davis, CEO of BMG USA sat as guest panelist. So far this year there have been no panel guests, but an exception is made tonight, because Clive is back doing the same job. |
| Also like last year, the finalists will each sing 3 songs. One chosen by Clive, another of their own choosing, and the third chosen for them by one of the regular judges. |
| We expect high standards at this stage of the contest, and the Idols don't disappoint tonight... |
Vonzell Solomon gets off to a shaky start, singing Dionne Warwick's "I Know I'll Never Love This Way Again", but she comes back really strong with her final 2 songs ("Chain Of Fools" and "On The Radio").
Apart from one last strangulated note, Carrie Underwood does a fine job singing Roy Orbison's "Crying". Her performance of Air Supply's "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All" also goes down well with audience and panel alike. Surprisingly, she hits a few dud notes when she starts singing Shania Twain's "Man! I Feel Like A Woman", but she recovers quickly and closes out the song looking strong.
Bo Bice does well on his first and last songs this evening, but when it comes to his middle song, Badlands' 'In A Dream' he drops the band and sings a cappella, and he's astonishingly good!
| The a cappella move means that Bo takes our top honors on the night, with Vonzell and Carrie sharing the second spot! |
