I Don't Mean to Be Rude, But...: Backstage Gossip from American Idol & the Secrets that Can Make You a Star

The Final 5 Results Show - Only Four Make It Over That Bridge!

Considering the abundance of Idol 'scandal' stories, it must have been as easy as 'ABC' when it came to deciding this week's group song.
Scott Savol pumps some passion into his rendition of Hall and Oates' 'She's Gone', during the 'Final 8' night. (Birth Year Songs)
The Idols do a pretty good rendition of Simon and Garfunkel's 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' with Bo Bice holding the reins on vocals.
In a touching moment they deliver flowers to Paula Abdul after singing the song. They are well aware that Paula too has some tense moments ahead this evening.
It's Anthony Fedorov's birthday today! Ryan congratulates him.
So, will he get the present he wants or will he be treated to a plane ride back to Philly? He is about to find out...
Ryan asks him to sit on the couch.
Vonzell Solomon is asked to remain standing.
Scott Savol is asked to join Anthony. He's happy to do so. Bo Bice, then Carrie Underwood are asked to remain standing with Vonzell.
The 3 Idols standing are all safe. Who goes tonight is between Scott and Anthony.
Randy Jackson says he agrees with America's bottom two selection this week.
Before being told the final result, Scott and Anthony each have to sing their 'Current Billboard' song from last night.
Scott is first with Brian McKnight's 'Everytime You Go Away'. Anthony follows up with the Backstreet Boys' 'Incomplete'. It begs the question... "Whose journey to Idolatary is about to be 'incompleted'"?
After the obligatory commercial Ryan reveals the answer. It really is a happy birthday for Anthony because leaving tonight is Scott!
Whilst we love Scott's voice (minus some of that recent pitchiness), we have to agree with Randy, America has made the right choice tonight, it's Scott Savol's time to go.
Scott has added something to this contest though. His progress in the contest has stirred up huge debate and polarized opinions on not just his singing, but also his image and that much publicized past misdemeanor. He's taken all that in his stride and with good humor.
Making the final five is no raw deal, so congratulations and good luck Scotty, it's time to 'Shaker' that body of yours back home to Ohio!
