I Don't Mean to Be Rude, But...: Backstage Gossip from American Idol & the Secrets that Can Make You a Star

Bo Bice (New Millennium Songs - American Idol 4, Final 6)

Bo Bice doesn't want to be anyone else but he!
Bo's look tonight is both hip and hippie, his baggy T-shirt is multi-colorful tonight to empower flowers! Simon Cowell isn't too fussed on the sunglasses, but what's great about Bo is he doesn't care! He got them for 6 bucks, he likes them, so he'll wear them!
Bo does his thing tonight, strutting the stage majestically like a lion on the prowl. He looks totally relaxed and is so confident in his vocal that mid-lyric he reaches and offers a gimmie-five to a guy standing by the stage. Bo could definitely sideline as a drum major because he also shows off some awesome mike-stand twirling tonight.
It's a great performance. It's edgy and energetic, distinctively Bo, just like it says on the can... and in the lyric!

At home with Bo:

Bo:  Helena hasn't changed very much here over the past 100 years or so, man... Well back home in Helena, I have my own house with a little bit of land and a couple of dogs 'n' turtles and cats. And I've got a wonderful girlfriend...

Caroline (Bo's Girlfriend): Bo's passions in life are... He loves his guitars, he's got about 12 of them. He absolutely loves his family. He would do anything for them.

Earle (Bo's Dad): Bo gets his talent and his pipes from his mother, and he gets his attitude from his dad.

Nancy (Bo's Mom): Oh, lord. Here we go! (laughs) ...With me having Gospel background, I always wanted Bo to do Gospel, but it was not going to happen. (laughs)

Bo:  You know, I love stuff like Anthrax and Metallica, all... all the good stuff! I was you know, in a band and on the road traveling for a while.

Shane (Bo's Bandmate): The guy is a really awesome performer... and when you see it, you do not forget it.

Bo:  Yeah, there's a little bit of head banger in Bo. I'm just so old it hurts my neck now. That's the problem. (laughter)

John (Bo's Bandmate): What America has seen is how Bo is. That's not a show that he's putting on. That's actually how he is.

Bo:  My focus has always been on music and writing. So I... I can't think of life without it.

Panel-Bites:

Bo sings...

Randy Jackson:  Yo... Yo, you know what? Bo, you know what I love, man? (Loud applause continues) You got some fans out here, baby! (Randy laughs, Bo laughs) Yo!... Oh, yo. Listen, you know what I love about you, man? The words that you sang in that song couldn't have put it better. What I love about you is you're honest. You're true. American Idol finally has a true rock star in you! (Cheers resume)

Paula Abdul:  'I Don't Want To Be Anyone Other Than Me'. You pick the song that totally describes yourself. Week after week, consistent. The crowd loves you. You're honest. You're true to yourself. You were incredible tonight.

Bo:  Thank you, Paula. (More cheers)

Simon Cowell:  Okay, Bo... Right, you got your confidence back. Second week in a row, strongest contestant so far. Only... (Cheers, Simon shouts) The only down side... there is a down side!

Randy Jackson:  Okay. What's the down side?

Simon Cowell:  There is a big down side.

Randy Jackson:  What's the down side?

Simon Cowell:  (Smiling) Do not wear the Lenny Kravitz sunglasses...

Randy Jackson:  Oh no!! (Bo laughs)

Paula Abdul:  No!

Simon Cowell:  ...They went out in 1988! Not a good look. (laughs)

Randy Jackson:  You should see the ones...(Applause drowns him out)

Ryan Seacrest:  (Audience cheers) Bo with some Gavin DeGraw, 'I Don't Wanna Be'! ... Nice one, man. So, what do you think about the sunglasses? I mean, obviously, you decided to put them on. But do you think he has a point with those?

Bo:  Ah, I just thought they were cool, man. They look like they're 600 bucks... I paid 6 bucks for 'em. (Bo grins and does a thumbs up)

Ryan Seacrest:  (laughs) If you'd like to vote for 'the bargain shopper' known as Bo Bice Ladies and Gentlemen...
