Carrie: The year I was born was 1983. And this week I am singing 'Love Is A Battlefield' by Pat Benatar. When I was little, I would put on my head phones and I would rock out and sing the wrong words to every single song imaginable. My sister would get so mad at me and be like, "Mom, she's ruining the song again!" And mom would always yell back at her, "You let her sing it any way she wants to". Hopefully I get the words right this week. (Carrie smiles)
Carrie sings...
Randy Jackson: Carrie, how you doing man? So Carrie rocks out. Carrie rocks out!
Carrie: Carrie tries. (Laughs)
Randy Jackson: Well, you know, there was some pitchy notes in there. You had, uhm, some of the high notes were a little sharp, and I felt like you messed up the words a little bit this time again, right?
Carrie: I did.
Randy Jackson: What's it with those words dude?
Carrie: I covered it. (Laughs)
Randy Jackson: You did cover it though. I was like 'ahh!'. You know it was all right for me. I'm not sure I'm loving the rocked out Carrie, but I still love the country girl. But it was all right. (Audience boos and cheers)
Paula Abdul: I think you rock. I think you rock. I love the country girl, but I thought you rocked tonight.
Carrie: I was just trying to get rid of that 'b' word. Boring. The boring word.
Paula Abdul: It's okay. It's okay.
Simon Cowell: You probably needed to do that after last week, but it was a little bit like watching a kitten who wants to be a tiger.
Randy Jackson: Wow, finally he speaks the truth!
Ryan Seacrest: Carrie Underwood. Here she is. So you should get credit for that ad lib then, right?
Carrie: That's right.
